Income Participants

Income Participants is used to document details for individuals and companies that have agreed to an income participation type of contract where royalties are based on a commission percentage, instead of writer/publisher ownership splits. Income participant information should be added before adding any of the income participant’s associated musical works to the Song Catalog.

Income participants are accessed from the drop-down list in the Copyright Owners module. Here you can Edit, View, or Add New records to the database. To add a new Income participant, click on Add new.

This will display a screen that allows you to add contract/agreement information, mailing address, contact information, and royalty payment information for the income participant. Type in the income participant’s information and press the Save button to add the record.

Data Entry Tips

Most of the fields on the screen are self explanatory. Following are tips and notes on several fields whose meaning may not be as clear.

Status - the default is “active”.

“Active” income participants appear first in List View. In cases where you are no longer working with an income participant,  you may set their Status to “Inactive” so that it moves them to the bottom of the list.

Territory - territory covered by contract/agreement (ex: world)

Contract Type - select contract type from drop-down list (this list is controlled by Contract Type codes list)

PRO Information  - select from drop-down list only if income participant is a songwriter or publisher who is also affiliated with a PRO.

IPI - enter only if the income participant is a songwriter or publisher who is also affiliated with a PRO.

After the income participant information is added, the income participant can easily be associated with a musical work in the Song Catalog (Income Participants Splits tab) by selecting their name from the drop-down list when adding the income participant splits.
